ParaSportsLive was born from a desire to bring adaptive sports to a wider audience. Our founder, Tony Jackson, has been actively involved with adaptive sports since 2009, when he started playing power wheelchair soccer. He was hired in 2011 to work at the Ability360 Sports and Fitness Center in Phoenix, Arizona, where he met world-class adaptive sports athletes and witnessed their dedication to achieving the highest levels of competition. Two years later, he was approached to provide play-by-play commentary for a national championship power soccer tournament. Although the event was recorded and later uploaded, it was the beginning of a journey that allowed ParaSportsLive to come to life. Below, you can see our major milestones as we continue working to bring adaptive sports to global audiences:
- Feb 27, 2017: Our business license is issued and ParaSportsLive is born
- June 29, 2017: A crowdfunding campaign is launched and raises over $7,000. This gives us the jumpstart needed to live stream adaptive sports events.
- October 21, 2017: ParaSportsLive officially launches with our first webcast
